My Story
Hi, my name is James Grandstaff and I live in Michigan (about 41 minutes from Detroit.) I’m a super cool Dad to 2 awesome kids; Zoe and Ethan and a darn good husband to my beautiful wife Trinette.
My story goes like this…
Ever since I was young I knew something was seriously wrong with what my Dad was teaching my sister and I about our future. All we heard was “go to college and get a good job.” We usually heard it above 100 decibels I might ad. I love my Dad and he totally meant well by teaching us that. He missed college and didn’t want us to stand on our feet all day like he does.
I just knew deep down that getting wealthy and having time to enjoy the wealth wasn’t gonna happen with a job.
Well, I got my first taste of “job life” when I was 15. I worked at a restaurant called “Lakes Family Dining”. I was a dishwasher. And man, did it suck. The fish-n-chips were alright, but the work was hard.
It didn’t take long to realize that something was rotten in Denmark with this whole “work for 40 years and retire” thing.
So there I was, late one night, watching this larger than life character on TV. He was talking all about how he was making $50,000 per week from his “tiny one bedroom apartment” by placing “tiny classified ads” in newspapers.
Sound familiar? Yep, you might remember good ‘ole Don Lapre.
I whipped out my credit card and bought his “Making Money Package” for $39.95. When it arrived, I tore through it and remember feeling a little disappointed because I was instructed to get a 900 number and start placing ads. I didn’t really have the budget for it at the time.
However, the one thing that stuck with me is how he explained the concept of running 1 ad until I made a small profit of $30 bucks. Then all I had to do was run the same ad in hundreds of newspapers across the country… and Voila! no more job.
It made sense.
That’s when the light bulb went on in my head. It was at that moment I realized the only way to get rich was to truly understand the meaning of one simple word.
Ok, maybe two words:
Leverage and automation
Fast forward a few years and I was lucky enough to discover internet marketing. I finally found the ultimate vehicle that made “leverage” and “automation” truly possible.
I was quickly drawn to online based network marketing companies. I created a few “automated systems” to help build my downlines and was able to quick my full time JOB in February of 2006. I’ve been living the internet lifestyle ever since.
Don’t get me wrong, it didn’t happen over night; nor was it easy. During my first 6 months online I was scammed for $35,000 and had to file bankruptcy soon after. From there, it still took me nearly 5 years of trial and error to figure out how to make a profit.
I’m a slow learner I guess.
Funny thing is, when I was 16 years old I was in a alcohol treatment center in Minnesota. As I was checking out, one of the counselors signed my “good-bye book”.
He scribbled: “Anything easily learned wasn’t learned.”
Ain’t that the truth!
